INNOVATIVE TOOLS FOR THE CLASSROOM

Education Boothbay has funded over $200,000 for tools and resources to support Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics programs.

WHAT DRIVES US? OUR MISSION

Education Boothbay helps teachers teach and students learn by supporting innovative tools and resources outside of what may be available through school budgets.

Education Boothbay partners with teachers to help kids at the public schools in the Boothbay region learn the skills necessary for success in college and in their future careers.

  • 3D Printers

Education Boothbay has funded the purchase of multiple 3D printers for use by STEAM students. The 3D printers are used both in the classroom and for special projects, including the Maine State Science Fair.

  • Laser Cutter

Education Boothbay funded the purchase a Jamieson LG-900 laser cutter. The laser cutter is used by engineering students with computer assisted design (CAD) to create precise cutouts, scale components, and engravings.

  • CNC Router

Education Boothbay funded the purchase of a 4' x 4' CNC router. The router is used in conjunction with computer assisted design (CAD) to carve a wide variety of three dimensional objects from materials such as wood, plastic and aluminum.

  • STEAM Initiative

Education Boothbay received a gift of $128,000 to enhance science, technology, engineering, art, and math programs allowing students to access cutting edge tools for 21st-century learning initiatives.

  • COVID-19 Response

During the spring COVID shut-down, Boothbay Region schools continued to provide hundreds of daily meals to students operating at a significant deficit. The Foundation was able to off-set $28,870 of the costs.

  • Teacher Grants

Teacher Grants are the heart of Education Boothbay’s efforts to advance innovation. Teachers are encouraged to submit grant requests for innovated programs twice a year. Unrestricted Education Boothbay donations fund the Teacher Grant Awards.

Education Boothbay funds a $1,000 annual award to the outstanding Boothbay Region High School teacher. Past recipients include Chip Schwehm, Nick Scott, and Mike Cherry. Learn about past recipients here.
